One of the most enriching countries in the world, Vietnam is an absolute assault on the senses. This is a country which offers highly rewarding adventure travel, active vacations and cultural immersion in a wonderfully exotic way of life. Blessed with captivating cities, lush soaring mountains, over 1500 km of coastline with white sandy beaches, and home to colonial palaces, pagodas, tombs and temples and hill-tribe peoples, Vietnam is an adventure waiting to be discovered.

Hanoi and the North

Northern Vietnam is breathtaking with its high mountains, emerald green forests and valleys, its picturesque seascapes and lush scenery. Elegant Hanoi, a blend of Indochinese and French influences and Vietnam’s capital, is one of the loveliest cities in Asia. Teeming with lakes and monuments, an Old Town with narrow streets crammed with artisans’ shops, and a French Quarter characterized by beautiful colonial buildings, it is a city to explore on foot.

Halong Bay: Nothing compares to the beauty of Halong Bay, Vietnam’s most dramatic natural asset. A UNESCO seascape, its thousands of lush limestone karsts rise majestically from the sea in spectacular fashion. Hidden caverns, forested islands and floating isles are accessed by overnight cruises on local junks, by kayaking, boating or simply swimming in the calm bay waters.

Northernmost Sapa: The stunning offerings of Vietnam’s Northern provinces around picturesque Sapa feature some of the best hiking and trekking opportunities in the country, and a glimpse into one of Vietnam’s most fascinating cultures. The lush scenery of soaring mountains, staggered rice terraces and plunging valleys interposed by small hill-tribe communities take away the breath. The alpine scenery affords treks to Indochina’s highest peak, Mt. Fansipan and its environs, homestays with natives for an up-close encounter with local life, and visits to remarkable ethnic markets where everything from colorful hand-made crafts to buffalo are sold. This is the best region for hiking and adventures including jeep safaris, boating and kayaking.

The Central Coast and Highlands

Vietnam’s east coast and central highlands are a traveler’s delight, featuring glorious beaches, lively resort towns, sleepy fishing villages and the imperial former capital of Hue. Inland, awesome scenery, lakes covered with lotus blossoms, neatly ploughed hillside fields and an ideal climate greet travelers.

Nha Trang: Distinguished by crystal-clear waters, modern resorts and great nightlife, lovely Nha Trang and its vicinity is Vietnams’ watersports’ Mecca. Pristine white and red beaches, invite with kayaking, snorkeling, diving and swimming.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Up the coast, 3 of Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites cluster in proximity. Hoi An, an old sleepy river town, famed for its tailoring, lovely pagodas, a Japanese bridge and pretty French Quarter is a colonial gem. Nearby, My Son Sanctuary, with its ruins of impressive Hindu temples and royalty grounds, is the capital of the ancient Champa Kingdom. Set on the Perfume River, imperial Hue, the once-capital of Vietnam and home to emperors of the past, boasts an ancient citadel with ornate pagodas, royal tombs and a Forbidden City.

Dalat: Inland, the charming hilltop town of Dalat is perched on the cooling mountains of the central highlands. This center of romance is small, beautiful and very French, and houses Emperor Bao Dai’s summer palaces. This is the area of forested mountains, ice blue lakes and grand waterfalls where hiking, walking, boating and cycling enhance the spirit of romantic adventure.

Saigon and the South

Cosmopolitan Saigon, with its glass skyscrapers, its brightly colored, ornate pagodas, its host of modern shops, its cacophony of horns and shouting, and its unique mode of traffic – 4 million motorbikes – is glitzy, chaotic and mesmerizing. Its history sets it apart: A main venue during the Vietnam War, it overflows with tragic remnants.

Just south of Saigon, the Mekong Delta, with its network of tiny canals and unique backwater tributaries, is one of the most fascinating Vietnamese destinations. Life here is as it was 100 years ago. Water buffalos wallow in rice paddies, women in traditional conical hats tend their fields, and stilt houses and floating islands dot the river banks. My Tho, Vinh Long and Can Tho, the main launching ports for fascinating boat trips, take travelers to native floating markets and local home factories, while cycling through the delta’s quaint villages affords a first-hand acquaintance with local life.

From the lush Mekong Delta in the south to the remote Sapa valleys in the north, Vietnam reveals a vibrant culture, a traditional way of life and an infectious energy. This is a country to expect the unexpected: Get ready for adventure!

Shetland has quite a historical pedigree, dictated by being the first ‘port’ of call for many a marauder traveling from across the seas. The Romans the Scandinavians, and from nearer to home, the Celts, all had a hand in shaping the Hebrides and Isles’ area of Scotland. It was only after the Danes left during the 1400′s that castle building resumed in earnest

Duart Castle, Isle of Mull

The Clan MacLean centred their activities on the Isle of Mull as far back as the 13th century. Duart Castle was built on the eastern side of the island to safeguard what was, through history, one of Scotland’s most important maritime crossings. A first major battle saw the owning MacLeans keeping an attacking Clan Campbell at bay in 1647. Howerver, prior to the arrival of Cromwell’s ships, the Clan fled the Castle before a further battle could take place. The 9th Earl of Argyll invaded in 1678, seeing the MacLeans fleeing once more. Although sold on several times after that, it was only when purchased in 19th century by Sir Fitzroy Donald MacLean that the castle was restored to become one of the most spectacular castles in Scotland, used as a setting for the films ‘When Eight Bells Toll’ and ‘Entrapment’, as well as a half series of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.

Dunvegan Castle, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye

Built over the centuries – the keep in the 14th, tower in the 15th and hall in the 17th centuries, the Clan MacLeod have lived in the Dunvegan locality since 1270. It holds the record – 800 years – as the oldest continuously occupied castle in all Scotland. Because the family has been in residence for so many centuries, there are plenty of family treasures and heirlooms within the castle, including the ornate Dunvegan Cup, Sir Rory Mor’s Horn, a two-pint drinking horn made from an ox’s horn and tipped in silver, and the Fairly Flag, said to, amongst other benefits, be able to charm the herring out of the Loch and render marriages fruitful. The castle also features delightful gardens.

Kisimul Castle, Castlebay, Barra

The compact medieval Kisimul Castle dates back to 1039 and was the home of the Clan MacNeil. It is rather unusual in that the sea is completely surrounds it and it can only be reached by boat. As a result, it never fell to an enemy. Due very much to its location, it was sold and subsequently abandoned in 1838. Falling into a great state of disrepair, the island, including the remains of the castle, were purchased in 1937 by the chief of the Clan MacNeill, and the castle was restored to its former glory. In 2001 it was leased to Historic Scotland (for the princely sum of £1 and a bottle of whiskey!).

Muness Castle, Belmont, Unst

Muness Castle, built in 1598, lies on a southern corner of Unst, the most northern of the inhabited Scottish islands. Built by the then Sheriff of Shetland, Laurence Bruce, the castle was said to be one of the most secure and strongest castles in Scotland. Abandoned for the last time in 1750 and a ruin since 1774, two of the three storeys remain, together with portions of the castle towers. The original castle was very well fitted, with walled courtyards, a church, stables, cellars, large kitchens, extensive accommodation and even its own brewery and bakery. Of considerable interest are the remains of a spiral staircase which was at the end of the original great main hall.

Scalloway Castle, Shetland Islands

Scalloway was one-time capital of Shetland, and Scalloway Castle was built in 1599 using ‘slave’ labour by the 2nd Earl of Orkney, Patrick Stewart, who was somewhat of a power-mad despot. He built the castle unusually not for protection, but to support his egotistical desires. It included a tower house, kitchen, a well, a porters’ lodge, and as befitted an egotist, an exhibition area. The porters’ lodge was said to have been used to imprison condemned witches in the 17th Century. There were two spiral staircases in the original castle and one remains today gicing visitors access to the upper floor of the castle’s south wing.

Shetland has some of the most remarkable and diverse scenery in Britain, where you’ll find rocky crags, heather-covered hills and pasture land, all no more than three miles from the sea at any point on the 150-mile long chain that makes up these fascinating islands.

You may not find Malaysia in any list of the top ten honeymoon destinations, certainly below Mauritius and the Maldives, but it’s a genuinely exciting honeymoon destination that you can really enjoy for your romantic getaway. Malaysia has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, gorgeous lush rainforest for hiking and exploring, and a vibrant city feeling that will resonate through you more and more the longer you spend there.

Malaysia is a country that retains its traditional routes while embracing modernity with both arms wide open. Its culture is a fusion of many others, with notable Chinese and Indian influences throughout due to extensive settlement by these two peoples. Malaysia also retains signs of British influence, as it was once a British territory, and only achieved independence in 1948. The country has two distinct regions which are split by the South China Sea, resulting in the fabulous beaches you’re likely going for. The climate is deliciously tropical with a huge range of exotic flora and fauna to delight all of your senses.

For those looking for a few nights in the city, Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a thrilling place to visit with a fabulous night life. The top two places to visit are the modern and iconic Petronas Twin Towers, which are the world’s tallest twin towers, and the Golden Triangle, which is the busiest part of the city with five star hotels, gourmet restaurants, and shopping malls. In fact, it’s likely that you’ll be staying here, as five star hotels are
surprisingly affordable in Kuala Lumpur. The city also has a number of historic buildings and museums celebrating Malaysia’s diverse and enthralling history and culture. It’s a thrilling, high energy Asian capital, worth exploring for a couple of days but potentially overwhelming for your entire honeymoon.

Instead, look into one of Malaysia’s amazing resorts for the ultimate relaxation part of your honeymoon. Malaysia’s beaches are so gorgeous that you’ll hardly believe what you’re looking at is real; it’s as though you’ve stepped inside a postcard. The beaches are not only up and down the coasts but on islands in between; resorts like Pangkor Laut are virtually dreams come true.

Pangkor Lout is a privately owned island about a 45 minute boat ride from the west coast of Malaysia. The resort is located on Emerald Bay, which is widely regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, and behind it spreads an exotic carpet of lush green rainforest, bursting with ancient life. The resort covers a comparatively small portion of the island, which means that much of it is left untamed; the buildings mesh perfectly with the natural environment. Each villa is tantalisingly close to the gorgeous beach. Even the restaurants are to die for, with seven to choose from and a mixture of all different styles of delicious cuisine. Other resorts may be less costly, but the gorgeous atmosphere is common to all.

Malaysia is an enchanting destination perfectly suited to your honeymoon needs with an Asian flavour you may not find elsewhere. With romance, delicious food, and luxury for less, how could you pass this up?

There are plenty of options if you need to make a money transfer to Russian Federation in order to help family in the area. Before you do so, you will likely have to do a little research on remittances to the country first. Not only will this help you find the best, cheapest way to send money to Russian Federation, but it will also offer some interesting knowledge on the history of remittances to the area.

Remittances are considered the main benefit of migration to other countries. Many families cannot do without the monetary support of their close relatives, so when a few of them move away, the relatives continue supporting them through frequent money transfers. Russian Federation is currently one of the top recipients of money out of the European countries. Like many nations, remittances have risen in general over the years, but have fallen more recently.

In 2007, Russian Federation received over $4 billion in remittances. However, the average money sent per person paled in comparison to many other countries. It was about $29 per person, whereas it was $114 for much of Eastern and Central Europe. Apparently, many immigrants try their best to assist their families back home, but do not have much to give, likely as a result of the dire economy present in many countries.

Despite these facts, you can still certainly find a few ways to send money to Russian Federation. Most banks and money transfer services offer this ability, but the fees can cost anywhere from $10 to $45 per transfer. Unlike remittance to some countries, such as Mexico, few if any banks offer programs in which customers can send money for free. However, the prepaid debit card is nearly free, and is available for hundreds of countries. It costs $5 to add funds, which is clearly a price cut from the average that banks and transfer services typically charge. Once you send a prepaid debit card to family members in the mail, you can start adding money to the card as often or as rarely as needed. They can access the money by either using the card at merchants that accept debit cards, or withdrawing cash from an ATM.

If you need to send money to Russian Federation, you are not alone, even if transfers to the area are not quite as common as remittances to other nations. You just need to shop around and compare rates before selecting a particular method. After doing some research on the subject, you should be able to find the best option for you and your family.

Panama City is quite the cosmopolite type of place, since so many different people live here. You can get around the city quite well, if you know a little bit of Spanish since this is the language that most people speak here. English, however, is also quite popular.

Panama City is mostly famous for its shopping opportunities. Large shopping malls are sitting next to local stores where handcrafted items can be bought. Don’t be surprised to discover that there are many bargains to be had on Central Avenue. Also, there are many ethnic stores, such as Chinese and Indian, in different parts of the city.

A great tourist attraction in Panama City is the Panama Canal. You will need to travel to the Miraflores locks to see the boats passing by. Hop in a cab and go to the locks. Don’t forget all the expenses, as you will have to pay for the cab and then for access to the locks and museum.

The most picturesque part of Panama City is Casco Viejo, which is also the old town where you can admire colonial buildings, side by side with many impressive cathedrals.

The old part of the city is also represented by Panama Viejo, where you can see the old ruins, as well as visit a local museum with many interesting exhibits.

There are three islands around the mainland that connect with the rest of the territory through the Amador Causeway. From this causeway, you can take in some wonderful views of the city, as well as the Puente de las Americas. Here, you can find locals jogging, riding their bicycles or roller-blading. There are also many restaurants around where you can stop for a meal or drink.

Do not forget to visit Mi Pueblitos, a local museum where you can see artifacts related to the many ethnicities living in Panama. Here, you can also find some local artisans selling handcrafted items.

Shopping is one of the many activities you can indulge in in Panama City. Markets are everywhere along Caledonia, and Albrook Mall is the ideal place to shop for some great looking clothing. Other interesting malls are the MultiPlaza Mall and MultiCentro Mall. Avenida Central is an area rich in shops and department stores.

If you are looking mostly for artisans items, you can visit the shops located in Centro de Artesanias. Indian shops are popular in the shopping district, but Panamanian souvenirs can be bought from almost anywhere.

Some areas in Panama City are considered to be dangerous for tourists. El Chorillo, San Miguel and Santa Ana are areas to be avoided. Drug wars are taking place directly on the streets, and there are stories about visitors being kidnapped when they venture into these areas. Although the tourist police is usually on guard, it is best to be cautious.
